Do you ever long for those simple childhood days?
- Days free from worry, concern, or responsibility?
- Days with beautiful blue skies, gentle breezes, and short sleeve (holes in your jeans) kind of temperatures?
- Days when your only decision in life is choosing between playing in the sand, riding your bike, or jumping on the trampoline?
Thankfully, life is not quite as hectic as it was a few weeks ago. I keep finding that my heart is restless to be more childlike again. I want to relax and have fun for awhile. I know that I am a parent, and that I'm not supposed to try to be "the friend." However, I think it is okay to be friends with your kids too, as long as it isn't that way all the time, and the parenting still gets done.
The trouble is....I'm still the Mom. There is still constant supervision and correction to be done.
And I'm left wondering......How do they view me?
At this point....I prefer not to speculate. I'm afraid of what I might find. Instead, I'm going to publish this post, and set out to make sure that, if only for this weekend, they see in me a glimpse of the Mother I long to be.
She is pleasant, she is firm, she is filled with lovingkindness, she seizes the moment, she smiles, she teaches, she laughs, she loves............
