Swimsuit Giveaway

It's true! It just doesn't happen to be here on this blog... Bummer.

There IS an awesome swimsuit giveaway going on this week over at Sit a Spell in Hendrickville. Just pop on over here to enter for a chance to win one of these adorable swimsuits from Lime Ricki Swimwear.

Even if you don't win, you can still get a promo code for a 10% discount!

I heard about these swimsuits last summer and really wanted one. The word on the street is they give great coverage for those who are concerned about modesty. Supposedly, they also stay put so you aren't tugging at your suit around the pool while trying to keep up with your little ones. I'd say being comfortable and freed up to enjoy your time at the pool is a good thing. I may just have to buy one this year....that is....if I don't win it first!

Things Change...Don't Blink Too Long

Did your yard go from looking like this on March 21st...

....to requiring this on March 27th??

Craziness! And by the way, that grill in the top picture is not sitting on the ground. It's on a raised platform about 5 or 6 inches off of the ground!

They always say in our part of the country...'If you don't like the weather, just wait a minute.'

But that isn't what this post is really about.

What it's REALLY about is a boy.

A boy who is growing so tall that, when I stand on my knees in front of him, towers over me.

I blink back tears as I realize that in just a couple of short years, I will be looking at him from this vantage point while on my feet. Wow...

It is so cliche' but, "where in tar-nation DOES the time go?"

I asked my Momma a few weeks ago if time ever does slow down. She told me what her Momma (my Mammy) always said in her later years..."You'd think with me sitting here day in and day out that time would go by slow, but it doesn't."

So I suppose maybe I better stop blinking back the tears and just let them fall as they may, because if I blink too long, I might miss something and this season will be over.

Today a new season dawned for my tall boy Josh.

Can you guess why?

That's right....Daddy decided it's time he learns to mow the yard.

Unfortunately, the ground was just too boggy wet for him to push the mower very well today. Even Craig had a hard time with it. He lowered the handlebar as low as it would go, but it was still just a little long for Josh.

I told Craig that Josh would probably grow enough in height by summertime to get better leverage on it. Having the ground a little dryer will probably help too. ;)

I'm so proud of his effort though!

The Return

Today seems like a good day to get back into blogging. As if I was really regular anyway. Sometimes it seems like every post is me apologizing in some way for my lack of posting.

I've been doing a lot of thinking lately about blogging. I've wondered if my writing should become something more than the random good stuff about the boys. Perhaps it should be a bit more... Maybe I should start a different blog with a different purpose. But who am I kidding? I don't keep up with this one, so why should I have two!?

I do think I will stick with the one, but I'm still unsure about where it will go.

I'm sorry if any of you have been concerned about my "disappearance," but you've probably all still "seen" me around on facebook, so you should know we are still alive. Please know that we are intact and doing well, despite some recent challenges. Life goes on and we are SO very blessed! God remains our strength and shield.

So to start things off here on this first day of my return...I'd like to announce that Baby Brother is 18 months old today!

This picture is a couple of weeks old, but this is what he does when you ask him to wink.

Cute huh?

Oh, and the white stuff on his face is Ranch dressing. :)

Nathan is such a joy. His smile lights up a room and his facial expressions keep us in hysterics. There really is so much to say about him, but I don't know where to start. So here are a few random facts.

  • Recently got his first hair cut. It will still curl, but is mostly just wavy.
  • Is trying to talk and is finally saying some things that can be understood. Before it was just babble. (ball, juice, uh-oh, hello, bye-bye, mommy, daddy, papa, Cheez-Its, shoes, I did it...I'm sure there are more.)
  • LOVES to sing. Will play with an old microphone or use a toy for one and sing, sing, sing. Adorable.
  • Shrugs his shoulder, while grinning, and says, "I dunno."
  • Dances, taps foot, claps, taps hand to the beat of music.
  • Is obsessed with telephones and remote controls. What kid isn't, right?
  • Favorite food is bananas.
  • Refuses to be weaned....sigh
  • Is, however, sleeping much better at night.
I could go on, but I probably better wrap this up. Maybe the reason I don't blog more is it just takes me too long....

Happy 18 months sweet Nate! We love you!

Sabbatical

I'm sorry it was unannounced and hopefully it will be ending soon. :)
